About US

Lyncrest Airport is owned and operated by the Springfield Flying Club. This allows us to grow and achieve our goal of being the best privately owned airport in Manitoba. Home to a variety of aircraft including restored vintage aircraft, amateur built planes and rotorcraft, it is also the base of operations for EAA Chapter 63, The Manitoba 99s International Women’s Pilots Organization (including C-FLUG), and COPA Flight 35. Lyncrest Airport is located on a 180 acre site with ample room to tie-down over a hundred aircraft and available space for hangars.

Built in the early 1950’s by Donald Paterson of Paterson Grain Company, several businesses operated from the field until the land was sold to the City of Winnipeg in the early 1970’s. The Springfield Flying Club continued to use it as an airport with a lease arrangement with the City of Winnipeg until they purchased the property in 1996. Since the purchase of the airport the membership of the SFC and hangar development have grown substantially.

The Springfield Flying Club is a non-profit organization, whose charter promotes recreational aviation. Annual dues provide the funds to pay for operating costs, improvements and equipment repairs and member volunteers provide services and necessary maintenance.

Currently over 70 members enjoy the benefits:

  • An airport that is close to the City of Winnipeg
  • Tie down space with an option to erect and maintain a hangar
  • Club social events
  • Opportunity to meet interesting people and make new friends

An Automatic External Defibrillator located on east wall to the left of the East Door.

An Executive Committee is responsible for the daily operation of the Club. Major expenditures and changes to Club policies are decided by the membership at regular monthly meetings. A Social Events Committee is responsible for organizing the Club social activities. A Safety Committee ensures regulations are followed and aircraft are operated in a safe and responsible manner.
